About This Place

Situated in the heart of Westwood at 1061 Broxton Ave, Happy Panda Kitchen Chinese Hot Pot offers an inviting dining experience centered around authentic Chinese hot pot cuisine. Specializing in individual hot pots, this cozy spot delivers a flavorful and interactive meal tailored to each guest's taste buds, making it perfect for solo diners or pairs who prefer sharing.

The menu is a delightful journey into classic and comforting Chinese flavors. Their standout dish, the Spicy Beef Hot Pot (香辣牛肉锅), is a beautifully balanced medley of tender sliced Angus beef, fresh fish tofu, crab sticks, firm and fried tofu skin, taro, corn, enoki mushrooms, tomatoes, luncheon meat, fish balls, vermicelli, Napa cabbage, and aromatic herbs like green onion and cilantro. Each bite bursts with bold, spicy heat that ignites the senses without overwhelming, creating a warming and deeply satisfying broth.

If you prefer something with a rich and tangy twist, the Golden Soup Beef Hot Pot (酸辣金汤锅) offers a soothing, golden broth that is simultaneously sour and spicy, inviting you to savor complex flavors in every spoonful. The Lamb Sauerkraut Hot Pot is another popular option, celebrated by customers for its hearty, well-seasoned ingredients and comforting warmth.

Complementing the hot pots are a curated selection of specialty snacks that elevate the meal experience. Be sure to try their Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken (盐酥鸡), praised for its perfect crispy exterior and just-right spicy kick that isn’t greasy, delivering an addictive crunch in every bite. Other tempting snacks include crispy pork, fresh cucumber salad, spring rolls, and fried sweet corn—all crafted to harmonize beautifully alongside your hot pot.

Beverage choices range from classic refreshers like Sprite and Coke to traditional Chinese herbal teas, providing thoughtful pairings to cleanse the palate or cool down from the heat of the broth. Fans of fruity drinks will appreciate the popular apple and strawberry juices that add a sweet, refreshing counterpoint.

The dining atmosphere at Happy Panda Kitchen is casual yet vibrant, ideal for both casual diners and groups craving a unique, hands-on culinary experience. Customer reviews highlight the thoughtful flexibility of spice levels, ensuring every bowl meets personal preferences, whether you prefer a mild warmth or a fiery blaze that “delivers its heat in a good way,” as one devotee joyfully states.

Ordering is seamless, primarily through mobile devices, which adds to the modern touch without compromising the traditional heartiness of the cuisine. Portions are generous, particularly the hot pots that come loaded with fresh, varied ingredients—meats, vegetables, tofu, and noodles—that satisfy both in flavor and fullness.

While some diners note the pricing can be a consideration, especially during busy dinner hours, many find the quality of freshness, the richness of flavors, and the tailored dining experience well worth it. Longtime patrons and UCLA students alike fondly recall the comforting familiarity of Happy Panda Kitchen, marking it as a beloved staple for nourishing, spirited hot pot meals.

A nice place for an individual hotpot, although you could also split an order to fill two people. The flavors and ingredients are fresh. If only they would add at least 2 of each ingredient for the hotpot. The taiwanese popcorn chicken was hot off the fryer with a spicy but well balanced spice mixture, not greasy at all

Good hotpot, but be mindful of the cost and dinner rush. Happy Panda Kitchen is a solid choice if you're craving hotpot in Westwood. The individual hotpot style is great, and the broths are flavorful. The ingredients all taste fresh, and it's a fun and interactive dining experience to build your own meal. The main thing to be aware of, especially as a student on a budget, is the price. A single meal can add up quickly once you start adding toppings and drinks, and it's definitely on the more expensive side for a casual dinner. I've found it's more of a "treat yourself" or special occasion spot rather than a regular dinner option. Also, be prepared for a crowd if you go during peak dinner hours. The place gets packed, and the noise level can be high. If you're a student looking for a quick and affordable meal, there are better options in the area, but if you're in the mood for hotpot and don't mind the price, it's a good place to go.

The Golden Beef hotpot is my go-to! Highly recommend it. Love how you can adjust the level of spice. "If it's not spicy, I'm not eating it." The flamin' spicy can deliver its heat. In a good way.

I and my friends went here frequently when I was still studying at UCLA. Now I’m in a different places, I still miss the food here. I tried different hot pots, and different drinks every time I visited here. I like the apple drink, and strawberry drink the most. For the hot pot, they have different spicy levels which is very convenient. I don’t have a preference for hot pot since I like them all. I would recommend this place

Great individual style hot pot place in Westwood! Everything is ordered from mobile and they have a wide selection of soup bases, add-ons, cold dishes and drinks. We ordered multiple soups including Sauerkraut lamb, Thai fusion, Mushroom and Golden beef. They give you good portion of ingredients (meat, balls, tofu, fish cake, different kinds of veggies and mushrooms). On the side there is rice or vermicelli noodle option. It is very filling! I am also pleasantly surprised by the drink. Ordered the Honey Kumquat Lemon and it pairs nicely with boiling hot soup to cool my mouth and reset my taste buds for the next bite. Highly recommend!

I really liked eating here, they put a lot of care into each hot pot. Tea is included and there are some tasty fried dishes like crispy pork to try. Only thing is that I wish the beef broth had more flavor.

Came here with a friend for a quick bite after visiting another friend in the hospital. Food is decent and on par with any other hot pot place. It was lovely that it was actually spicy, so great for individual hot pot! You can choose between mild and spicy!

Nice and clean little hot pot place with neat decoration . The restroom is clean with paper towels. The amount of food is just right and we can specify the degree of spicy. We enjoy our meal there.
